FSM (Field Service Management): definition
FSM, or Field Service Management, refers to the management of field service calls: first, scheduling technicians; then, equipping them with a mobile app; tracking service calls; and finally, generating reports.
What a Software Program Does FSM
- Scheduling Assign each service call to the right technician based on skills and location.
- Mobile app Provide technicians with their schedule and machine history.
- Reports Generate the work order report, signed on-site by the customer.
- ERP integration Retrieve customers and the equipment fleet, and send back reports and parts used.
FSM or CMMS?
FSM software manages service calls performed at customer sites. In contrast, a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) organizes the internal maintenance of a site’s equipment: see the comparison between field service software and CMMS.
FSM s Applied to Machine Field Service
In machine field service, the service call begins before the technician is dispatched, with the customer’s request and the diagnostic assessment. Kolus is therefore an field service software solution, and FSM connects these steps, from the request to the report: see the platform.
